So I’m not sure where in the world you are reading this from right now, but here in Florida it is COLD. Like, 45 degrees! In January! What the hell? Anyways.. Oats. Who doesn’t love them? We can’t be friends if you don’t (joking. kind of.). Oats are so good for you, & if you think they have to be plain, think again! I get so creative with my oatmeal recipes that I could eat it every single day & never grow bored of it. You can count on several concoctions of oats in future posts, but today I am sharing my current seasonal favorite: Salted Caramel Apple Oats. Yes. It exists. Next time your taste buds need a warm, delicious hug, try this recipe out. You’re welcome. 😉Next time your taste buds need a warm, delicious hug, try out these Salted Caramel Apple Oats. Salted Caramel Apple Oats
- 48g rolled oats
- 1 granny smith apple (approximately 150g)
- 1 scoop vanilla or similarly-flavored protein powder (25-30g)
- 34g Nuts n More “Salted Caramel” protein peanut butter
- 1 tsp butter extract
- 1-2 fl oz sugar-free maple pancake syrup (I like Walden Farms)
Fill a pot with water amount listed on your oats & add a dash of salt. Place pot on stove & set to boil. Chop apple into bite size pieces, reserving a few slices for decoration (totally optional, unless you’re just fancy all the time!). Once water starts boiling, add your oats & apple & turn heat down to medium. Allow to simmer 10-15 minutes until the pieces of apple are soft & your oats are fluffy. Turn off stove & remove pot from heat. Add protein powder, butter extract, a dash of cinnamon & pancake syrup & stir until well-combined. Transfer to a bowl, top with reserved apple slices, salted caramel peanut butter, & another dash of cinnamon. Get a big spoon, & ENJOY!
